Dr. Ira Trollinger, Superintendent
Dr. Ira Trollinger is currently serving as Superintendent of McDowell County Schools. Prior to this position he served as Superintendent of Martinsville City Schools in Martinsville, Virginia for 8 years, Curriculum Instructor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for one year, Superintendent of Rockingham County Consolidated Schools for two years, Superintendent of Rockingham County Schools for five years, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction of Orange County Schools for five years, Principal of South Mebane Elementary School for 3 years, Supervisor of Math and Science for Buncombe County Schools for 3 years, and teacher of science at Chapel Hill High School and Eastern Alamance High School for 3 years.
Dr. Trollinger received his BS (1972) and MAT (1973) Degrees in Science Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a dual Ph.D in Administration and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1977. |
