Dr. Mike Murray, Associate Superintendent
Dr. Murray received his BS Degree in science from Mars Hill College (1984), his Master of Arts in Education (1988), his Ed. S. (2005) from Western Carolina University, and his doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University (2008).
Mike is married to the former Carmen Fisher, a principal at West Buncombe Elementary School in Buncombe County. Together they have seven children ranging in age from five to nineteen years. Mike enjoys camping, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, all outdoor sports and just spending time with his family.
Mike is excited to be a part of McDowell County Schools and looks forward to working with everyone here.
Dr. Mike Murray is currently serving as the Associate Superintendent for Operations for McDowell County Schools. Prior to this position, he was the Principal of Hominy Valley Elementary School in Buncombe County for 5 years, Principal of Barnardsville Elementary School (Buncombe County) for 6 years, Adjunct Professor for Continuing Education at Mars Hill College for 2 years, Assistant Principal of Sand Hill/Venable Elementary in Buncombe County for 1 year, Assistant Principal of Sand Hill Elementary in Buncombe County for 4 years, and secondary science teacher at AC Reynolds High School in Buncombe County for 4 years. |
